Caldron Canal - an arm off the Trent and Mercy

A few days down the Caldron Canal into the beautiful Churnet Valley. Enjoyed a couple of nice pub meals, went to Church at Cheddleton, visited the Flint Mill, rode the Churnet Valley Railway and took the Narrowboat as far as Froghall Tunnel where we had to turn around due to its low entrance.

The weather is wet as we leave the valley, UK forecast is wet for awhile so on we go in the rain.

We had a problem that our toilet wasn’t flushing then found that water wasn’t flowing from any taps. Our hire company was on the ball and had an engineer out within a very short time. About 2:30am that night we heard a crash only to find a tree had come down with the weight of the rain and also the water softening the soil around the root ball. 4:30am there was a Tap Tap on the window, it was the police making sure we were ok. We were able to drive our from under the branchy part easily and be on our way, endING our Caldon Canal trip.
